Environmental Policy
At The Hamilton we try to be environmentally friendly as much as possible and have listed below some of the steps we have taken to be more energy efficient.
- Use long life bulbs on hallways and a majority of rooms.
- Recycle all cardboard, cans, plastic, paper and glass waste from the hotel.
- Dry as much as is practical on the lines instead of tumbling.
- Heating and hot water provided by condensing gas boilers (approximately 96-98% efficient).
- Encourage environmentally-friendly, and where possible, local sourcing of products and services to minimise ‘road miles’.
- Encourage engagement of our businesses with local communities.
- We purchase our electricity from renewable sources.
- We are also looking at the long term. For us this involves looking at ways in which we can run the hotel using an increasing amount of renewable energy sources. We have started investigations into heating our water through solar panelling and we are watching the developments in wind energy.
- Use small airtight containers for loose coffee, sugar and tea bags and provide fresh milk in insulated flasks to reduce on individual packaging.
- Swap single use toiletries for pump dispensers reducing packaging and minimising ‘road miles’.
You may like to help by:
- Turning off lights/television and close curtains, depending on the season, when you leave your room. As well as taps and showers.
- Please leave dirty towels in the shower tray if you require replacement towels. Towels that are reused cut down on detergents, water and washing and drying energy.
- Our radiators are set on 3, please turn up or down if your room heating is not suitable – (rather than open your window and heat Great Yarmouth if too hot).
- Being careful what you dispose of in the toilet – (personal hygiene bags are provided).
- Watching what you put in the bin – please leave all paper, card, plastic, aerosols and glass at the side of the bin for recycling
It is our pleasure to make our guests stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
